Fit for success: Gyöngyi Varga - Cross-cultural consultant, coach and trainer

Gyöngyi Varga

Born in Hungary

Native language: Hungarian
Languages for training courses: Hungarian, German and English

Freelance work as a cross-cultural consultant since May 2004

I grew up with German-Hungarian roots. Already at a young age I worked as a German teacher and translator. At 18 I moved to Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and worked as an au pair. During this time I became very interested in the German culture. In the following years I completed two study courses: German for teacher training (Lehramt) at the university of Pécs in Hungary and Germanistic / Cultural Studies (MA) in Tübingen in Germany.

At a young age I learned to be responsible for myself, financing my studies through different jobs. During this time I developed perseverance and got to know different professions. In communication agencies and in the media sector (radio, publishing, internet) I worked as a PR consultant and online-marketing manager and so deepened my knowledge of different corporate structures. I quickly understood the main characteristics of the Hungarian and German business world and was fascinated by intercultural communication so I attended various courses of further training.

The greatest benefit from this process I see as my ability to engage with people from all walks of life, with different characters and cultural backgrounds. My experiences have enabled me to adjust to the mind-set of different companies, to empathize with their needs, to unfold their synergistic potential and leverage this to an optimum level. I am very experienced at coordinating teams and processes.

I have been working as a freelance cross-cultural consultant since May 2004, supporting and training employees and executives, teams and companies to deal well with intercultural adjustment.

I am fully certified with "The International Profiler" and as a cross-cultural coach at the Institute for Communication and Leadership ("Institut für Kommunikation und Führung") in Lucerne in Switzerland.

In the context of my work I empathize with the needs of my client and give him/her my undivided attention. This focus and awareness is appreciated by my clients and is reflected in the sustained success achieved. I use a wide range of interactive training methods and always emphasize my motto: further training should be fun! The learning effect is much more lasting if the training process was enjoyable!

NEW: I have now widened my palette of methods to include team games based on rhythm. Drumming together is a helpful way to reach unity and to harmonize with each other. At the same time those involved are led to find out where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

If you are interested in my offer - just give me a call!
